A very big thank you to The Bee in DC for sending me the new Nationals theme song. It's an absolute train wreck nightmare abortion fever dream.
It's called "Nuts About the Nats." It has to be heard to be believed.
The song was written by a very old man who used to be the PA announcer at Griffith Stadium.
"The lyrics for the song are meant to capture the fans' excitement, the rush of emotion and the fun and good times they are experiencing," said Charlie Brotman, CEO of Brotman, Winter Fried Communications and the song's author.
Epic fail, Mr. Brotman. Epic fail.
If they start playing this at every Nationals game, the boycott is on.

OMG, it's like a third-rate glee club and the 1920's and a marching band's percussion section had a very slow love child. WTF?
ReplyDeletewhat happened to "sweet caroline" during the 8th inning?
ReplyDeleteWhy in the hell are Nats fans singing "Sweet Caroline"? I thought that was a lame Boston thing?
ReplyDeleteThis song is A-W-F-U-L. If they play this while I am at this Sunday's game I will never go to another Nationals game. Beethoven was deaf and wrote classical masterpieces while surely this guy isn't and wrote this piece of crap. Maybe he's just pissed that the team is called the Nationals instead of the Senators?
This song is just too rich...I can't help but love it since it was obviously written during the 1930s to raise the unemployed folks' spirits. The nice old man is just trying to bring back a sense of our history...or maybe he's gone senile.
ReplyDeleteIt's official... DC is the most congested city.

Thought you might enjoy.
There is one aural aspect of the new stadium to contradict though - Zim comes to the plate to the tune of lupe fiasco's 'superstar', which is so effing perfect it gives me chills... 'if you are what you say you aaaaare, a suuuupa-staaaar, have no fear, the crowd is here'... oh man, it's good.
ReplyDeleteThats the worst fucking thing I've ever heard.
ReplyDeleteJesus. That's fucking horrendous.
ReplyDeleteI heard this when I was in line in the bathroom right after the game a couple weeks ago. My thoughts at the time were, "This is incredibly lame. I hope they don't play this with any sort of regularity. Or ever again, really."
ReplyDeleteThis is like some horrible parody of "Meet the Mets." Good GOD. Someone call Terry Gross to do a Talkin' Baseball or something. Hell, call Soulja Boy, since he's now the face of DC sports. ANYTHING would be better than this.
ReplyDeleteI went to a game last week at the new stadium and they definitely played this song before the game started. Even my dad made fun of it.
ReplyDeleteit's nut very good
ReplyDeleteglad to be of service!
ReplyDeletei figured all you people on your metros with your ipods would have missed it on Elliot In the Morning on DC101 that day.
Epic fail indeed. What I want to know is who signed off on making this the Nationals theme song? Who heard this audio turd and said, "Yes, this is good stuff!!"?
ReplyDeleteI think i'm nuts about the nats!!!
ReplyDeleteI'm not nuts about the Nats...just crazy about the Nationals.

ReplyDeleteI love Charlie Brotman, but this song is pretty lame.
ReplyDeleteI see the link is from Elliot in the Morning. I would have loved to hear his show when they played that. Holy SHIT that is awful.
