Gross

This pictures comes courtesy of The Drudge Report:

Lady, what in God's name are your feet doing in the...is that The Reflecting Pool? Are you really putting your bare feet in The Reflecting Pool?? Ewwwwwwww. Please tell me you're wearing shower shoes.

I know it's been a bit muggy out, but dipping your feet in duck shit should not be the solution to this rather harmless problem.

UPDATE: Probably not The Reflecting Pool. I mentioned in my comments that it looked a little too close to The Dome to be the Pool. (Hey, I'm no tourist. It's not like I know the Mall by heart.) Grossness of sticking your feet into a stagnant pool of water with duck shit still applies.

UPDATE 2: You know I really should figure these things out before I push the "publish" button, but, yeah, it's The Reflecting Pool. World War II Memorial columns in the background. That is so effing gross.

At first I thought she was kind of cute but then I thought.... how old is she? Mid-thirties? I can't see her gut....

I don't think that's the reflecting pool, it's the fountain on the Capitol grounds, but the duck shit comment still applies. And Hill staffers wonder why the rest of us think they're total hoes...

  3. I was thinking that it looked a bit too close to the Dome to be The Reflecting Pool, but I was hoping all those American flags were the flags surrounding the Monument. Guess not though.

  4. I've seen people doing the same thing at the WWII memorial.

That's like lighting a cigarette off the eternal flame . . . fucking tourists.

It's the reflective pool. You can see part of the WWII memorial posts on the upper left.

That's the reflecting pool, anonymous. The flags are those around the WashMon, and you can see the green wreaths of the WWII memorial.

The Capitol is WAY too far away for it to be the fountain.

    Idiot.

  7. Formerly, anonymous is not an idiot. I had my doubts too. The Dome looks a lot smaller to the human eye from the Pool, so it's an easy mistake to make.

    Please be nicer.

Are you kidding? You've seen tourists lighting cigarettes off the Eternal Flame? I would have thought that was funny just a year ago before I quit. my dream was to get a monkey to light my cigarettes...

My greatest tourist moment, however, was snapping a picture for a japanese couple in front of the Bush v. Gore protestors at the Supreme Court.

I'm the other anonymous who agrees it is the reflecting pool. The dome looks so large because the camera has a short depth of field lense, but I guarantee you, it is the reflecting pool between the Monument and Lincoln Mem.

If you can see the Capitol Dome in the background, you are wading in duck shit. Which body of water is wholly unimportant. It's all duck shit.

I wouldn't let my duck swim in there.

And I'm glad I"m not the only one annoyed with those people who wade in the WWII memorial.

Rusty- you should just set up a slip 'n' slide on the mall and charge $5.

Sometimes the Reflecting Pool has been just newly refilled with fresh tap, so it's not duckshitty yet, and it's great for a dip. But you have a window of about six hours from refill before the water gets murky again, so enjoy it when you can.

And it's soooo way cleaner than the Capitol Reflecting Pool, which actually gets red tides.

Last time I was there, a tourist let her kid swim in the WWII memorial main fountain and a park ranger yelled at her.

I guess they just don't have enough staff to watch it all the time. But it is pretty disrespectful.

  15. i think that might actually be the fountain at the WWII memorial. people dip their feet in there all the time, and its pretty clean.

The WWII memorial in the back ground means nothing huh? Its the duck poop. The fact that thousands gave their lives so we colud be free at the reflaecting pool means nada to you. Its the duck poop. The fact that WW1 vets saw mustard gas cause fellow soilders to cough up their inards means nothing huh? Its the duck poop. That Dome in the background that gave us and maitains free speech aint worth a word, but rather Its the duck poop. The very fact we a protected by men and women to prevent another 9/11 means nothing? Its the duck poop. Ever wonder why 20-30 year olds aren't respected at this point in our history? Beacuse 1 little difference stall your brains. Yup Its the duck poop.

I think you need to get off your computer and get a life. If you're worried about duck shit in a reflecting pool, you've completely missed the point for any monument in DC, especially the WWII monument.

You must be one of those people who prefer to bitch about being miserable than actually do anything about it - if you don't like it here, why don't you move?

You know, I completely missed the monuments in the background and the duck poop implied to many of you.

I was just thinking about boobies. But that's just me.

You guys bitching about how we should pay attention to the memorials in the background, take note: People who live in DC don't care about the memorials. We live here and see them every damn day. Like saying a word so many times it loses meaning, so do the monuments.

Also, not all of us are in DC cause we want to be (eg. military families/kids) and its not like we can just move (lack of money, job, education, age).
