This Weather Rules

Nothing like sitting on your porch sipping on some boxed wine while cars float down your street. Six inches of rain!? Awesome. Hey, we even made CNN.com's front page!

Here's a part of the story that caught my eye:

Firefighters in Chevy Chase, Maryland, rescued 30 people by boat from a recreation center late Sunday, said Capt. Oscar Garcia, a spokesman for the Montgomery County fire and rescue service.

In Hyattsville, Maryland, crews took 69 people trapped in flooded homes to safety, said Mark Brady, of Prince George's County fire and rescue.

I'm glad that nine months after Katrina, we as a nation are finally figuring out how to properly rescue people from floods. Three cheers for forward progress.

Damn. Sitting on your porch drinking vino? I'm jealous. My house's basement flooded, but I'm still at work!

This is what happens when you build a city in a swamp.

  4. Sweet, the vino drinking was last night in the middle of the storm. I am now at work with the rest of the 9 to 5ers.

What self-respecting blog could possibly miss mentioning the despicable traffic problems this morning caused by the rain?

OH MY GOD!!!! I SEE A RAINDROP. I BETTER START DRIVING LIKE A CLUELESS FUCKING MORON.

    Geez this fucking shithole sucks.

    this_shithole,

That might be the most idiotic thought to ever be shared on this blog. Yea, the traffic was horrible this morning because people here don't know how to drive in the rain. It couldnt have had anything to do with the fact that a lot of streets were closed or partially blocked due to flooding and fallen trees. Get a fucking clue.

    anonymous,

First of all -- go fuck yourself.

Now that we've got the niceties out of the way:

The traffic problems I encountered had nothing to do with the road closures or flooding. There was not one problem with any of the roads on my trip to work. The idiots here simply do not know how to drive effectively in adverse conditions. You really shouldn't criticize when you don't have a fucking clue as to what you are talking about.

    Have a nice day.

  8. Shithole is certainly right when it comes to snow. Unfortunately, I didn't get to experience the conditions during The Great Rain, so I can't comment on that.

    Rusty,

You forgot to mention how nice the 100% humidity was!!! :p

The snow and the fact that this place shuts down because of it is one of the few things I actually like about this place.

And BTW anonymous, you are probably one of the clueless morons who doesn't know how to drive in the rain. Is that why you got so defensive?

But then again, it's not just you. I hear a armadillo was hit on I-95 in Orlando, FL yesterday. That is why our rush hour was so fucking horrible.

Yeah, self-assurance. Everything about America is inferior to other more cosmpopolitan nations--which is why usa is once against the richest part of the world (props to Canada, too)....

But, if you listen to Nadia, you'd believe the tripe about Americans being the most ignorant people in the world concerning geography. The truth is that if you look a little bit closer, EVERYBODY's ignorant b/c we're all the same.

Ask some peasant in interior China about the pope or the president of the United States. You might get, "What's the United States?" Seriously.

That $43 million would be better spent funding English classes that most immigrants want. And don't give me that tripe about confusing immigration w/ zenophobia--it's related b/c we're talking about the Latin American "invasion" of our country, pal. Get a clue.

It's not zenophobic to oppose your tax money being spent to fuck up your culture. Morons. And I'm a fucking democrat!

Disclosure: I've NEVER voted for a republican and I've voted TWICE for the only socialist in the U.S. House--Rep. Bernie Sanders (I; VT).

    So screw your zenophobia!

    Hey Spunkbubble,

Your posting would have more credibility if you at least posted it on the correct blog entry.

The government should deport people who post in the wrong blog comment areas.

  18. If God was "punishing" New Orleans for being the sin city by sending it Katrina, what is God punishing us for? These rains do have a quasi-biblical quality to them.

I think s.eth is really Jerry Fallwell posting under a false name.

And BTW, Jerry Fallwell can go fuck himself too, and I hope he rots in hell.

Will I see him there for making that comment about a so-called "man of God"?

  21. Hee hee, I've been lax in reading this blog for a while and my goodness but has the comments section become entertaining! I'm just wondering if I should correctly assume that you finished the Box O' Wine by yourself?

    Just curious...
