DCist Rips Off W.I.H.D.C.... Again!

Well, maybe not. But probably.
Teh DCist: Tony Williams Turns Vigilante

Anthony Williams personally stopped a thief on K Street yesterday afternoon. He was apparently walking by when he saw a guy nab a package from a UPS deliverman's hand truck. Our newly dubbed "Mr. Bow Tie" crime fighting superhero immediately started running after the culprit, catching up with him and getting the stolen package back.
Did you see it? To the untrained hater, that might not look like much. An amusing anecdote, sure. But calling Tony Williams "Mr. Bow Tie" was something first invented (as far as I can tell) by the brilliant creator of this blog, James F. Just look in the archives, here, here, here, here, here.... here... here. Oh and here. In fact, for about three years James F called him that.
"newly dubbed."
Actually, its entirely plausible that this is purely coincidental. The writers at DCist could indeed be as creative as James F or anyone else with a blog. But I'm still going to exploit this...

Even if you don't like Liz, or Rusty, or me for that matter, James F is undeniably the gold standard of DC hate. He was awesome. He is legend. I encourage everyone to read as many of his posts as possible and not just to spite the DCist. You'll be glad you did.

I just wonder what James F would think about this. I'm not talking about stealing his shit. I mean, what would he say about Bow Tie running down a theif:
"I said to myself, 'Do I just stand here? No, this can't happen,' " Williams told us. "And I just started running."
My pussy gets wet just thinking about it.

  5. I think you and James F. are the only ones who really had the hate and the mockery down.
However, James F. had it down to an art form. Sometimes I wish he would move back just so there would be fresh James F. material. Oh well, guess I'll just have to wait for the Skins to get their asses handed to them by the Seahawks.

  6. Seriously, HRH? If you had bothered to read the Reliable Source story I linked to and credited with breaking the Tony Williams crime fighting story, you'd see that I was referring to Washington Post reporter Marissa Newhall having dubbed the former mayor's new superhero alter ego as "Mr. Bow Tie." Everyone and their mother called Williams "Mayor Bow Tie" and various versions of said nickname while he was in office. The man wears bow ties. It's something he's known for.

And if that's you in the comments here sockpuppeting for yourself under various pseudonyms, that's majorly pathetic.

  7. Not to brag or nothing, but I once got a personal email from James F. He is a class act.

Rusty can't even wipe his ass. Liz was lousy in bed.

  9. SNAP. I know right. That WOULD be pretty pathetic if I were doing that. But I’m not and you know this. And that, my dear, kills a small part of your soul, doesn’t it? Yeah, it totally does. Relax, baby doll. I’ll shoot you an email here in a few.

  12. Lets be honest here, your average DC native (Tyrone and Tamika from NE) does not give a damn about DCist, nor does it make much of an effort to reach out to them.

I mean they do have their "This week in hiphop" bullshit but come on now, nobody really gives a flying fuck about that shit. The young people living in the ghetto (mostly DC natives too I might add) are not really interested in all of that artsy fartsy hip hop garbage.

  13. Sommer Mathis and DCist both represent everything I cannot stand about the new transplant PUSSIFIED DC.

Now me I am born and raised in DC and was lucky enough to have been at ground zero back during the 1991 riots (you know the riots where the DC police were forced to retreat for their own safety) so let me tell you this, Sommer Mathis and all her DCist staff would have wet their pants and panties had they been there to witness that.

In those days and that day in particular, it was every man woman and child on the streets fending for themselves. Something I hope will make a return to DC in the not so distant coming future.

Back in the days DC had its ways of separating the pussies from the non pussies. Sadly that just isnt the case anymore.

  15. Oh, please. The Bow Tie jokes started in 1999, when most of you were still living in the Ohio and New Jersey and Boston suburbs.

As for any love for James, I gotta say that I don't quite agree. I don't think he wrote nearly as well as any of the successive bloggers at this site....not even close, actually.

More importantly, I always guessed that perhaps the reason he hated D.C. so much was because he channeled most of his energy into hating, and less of it into making friends or actually doing anything in town….if I remember correctly, he vaguely corroborated my assumption in one of his final posts.
