Metro is 0-for-2

In my previous hilarious post I complained about the Red Line being down on my first day back from Boston.

Now I would like to complain about the Red Line being down on my second day back from Boston.

Granted, this was only a 10-minute delay. Nothing to get my panties all in a bunch over. I mean, it sucks when you have to make small talk with people on a stationary train, but I'm a big boy and I can get over it.

But, damn it, Metro, do not inconvenience me for a third straight day. I have always been a secret fan of the subways here. They're clean. They get me where I want to go. Do the 17-minute waits on Saturday nights suck? Yes. But I have grown to accept them. But a third straight day of this crap would be unacceptable. A third straight day of this crap and you, Mr. Red Line, will be no better than the buslines. If I wanted to sit around not moving I would be driving on K Street.

Red Line, you are getting a short leash.

  1. Stop complaining. Things could be a lot worse. At least you do not have to dodge gunshots while walking to the Metro station. Even standing on the platform waiting for the damn train to arrive can be an adventure down here.

One of these days I want for you to take the green line down to Anacostia with me and we can take a walk down Martin Luther King Avenue together holding hands.

  2. What I find amazing is Chicago has a train system that was built in the early 1900's and it functions so much better than Metro. And why does Metro think 4-car trains on the Blue Line during rush hour make sense?

Keep on hating DC...you have many supporters!

  3. At least you can ride the metro. Try having to take the fucking bus all the way down 16th street. The only good thing about my commute is my fellow ghetto dwellers and i get seats, while the rich, white lawyers who get on at U street have to stand.

  4. Um...actually the D.C. metro isn't at all bad compared to the public transportation in other cities.

For example, in Miami there is no system to tell you when the last train left and when the next train is coming. Outside of rush hour and even during rush hour you can wait 40+ minutes on a good day. Plus, you need a car to get to the public transportation in that city.

I guess it all depends on what you are used to.

  5. Yeah, but even if there was something in Miami to tell you when the last train left and when the next train is coming, it would probably be in fucking Spanish anyway.......

  6. the new metro director may be able to help things. he has relatively little experience, but he cares. which his predecessor the suburb-dwelling SUV driver did not.

  7. The red line will keep pissing you off. get ready for summer, when not only are the platforms swelling with mobs, it's sweltering and awful.

  9. yeah, and the red line's got all those crazy long escalators too. what's up with that? IS WMATA trying to win a world-record or something?

  10. Complaining about the efficiency of the metro system when there is so much else shitheaded about DC is a waste of time. The metro system is run decently and is somewhat extensive (insofar as there is much worth covering).

The fact that they've shut down E street forever (nevermind Penn Ave.) may be a better topic.

  11. I just found your bullshit blog searching Google for info on the incident at the Reston Champps where law abiding citizens were detained, arrested, and had their possesions confiscated.

    FUCK YOU

  12. If law-abiding citizens were arrested in the Metro area, why aren't you on my side?
